Thai Yoga Massage

What is Thai Massage?

Thai Massage, or Nuad Bo Rarn, often referred to as “the lazy persons yoga”, is an ancient and sacred form of holistic bodywork, combining the use of acupressure, deep rhythmic compressions and stretching. Thai Massage is performed on a mat on the floor with the client fully clothed.

It is believed to have originated in India during the time of the Buddha. Dr. Shivago Komarpaj, or the “Father Doctor”, was a well known Ayurvedic physician and Buddha’s personal doctor. Combining the principals of Yoga, Ayurveda and Buddhism, Shivago is credited as the father of Thai Massage. It is custom to pray to him for guidance and inspiration before or after treatment.

Thai Massage is based on the concept of Sen lines, which are energy lines in the body, similar to the meridians in Traditional Chinese Medicine. These lines transport life force energy through out the body. When the flow of energy is blocked, disease, discomfort and dysfunction occur. Thai Massage focuses on opening up and releasing these lines, restoring balance to the body, mind and spirit.

Thai Massage can improve range of motion and flexibility, enhance energy flow, promote relaxation and improve posture. Thai Massage provides long lasting and deeply transformative results.

No! You do not need to practice yoga regularly or be flexible to receive the benefits of Thai Yoga Massage. Thai Massage will increase your flexibility and range of motion!

What should I wear?

Please wear loose or stretchy clothing, anything you would wear to workout in or do yoga in should work. As we relax, our temperature drops significantly. Make sure to wear something you will stay warm in. I will always have clothes you can change into, just in case.

Why Thai Massage? What are the benefits?

Thai Massage can improve range of motion and flexibility, enhance energy flow, promote relaxation and improve posture. In this modality, we are addressing fascia and connective tissue, not just muscle, so results are longer lasting and more effective. Thai Massage is great for anyone needing deep leg or hip work, but every session will address the entire body. I believe wholeheartedly in the deeply transformative nature of Thai Massage.
